Sclerotherapy
Spider Leg Vein Treatament

What is it?
Sclerotherapy is a popular method for eliminating or reducing the appearance of superficial telangiectasias (spider veins) in women and men.

How does it work?
The treatment involves instilling a specific solution into these capillaries/veins, using a small needle. A tiny needle is used to inject the veins with a medication that irritates the lining of the vein. In response, the veins collapse and are reabsorbed. The surface veins are no longer visible. Sclerotherapy relieves symptoms due to varicose and spider veins in most patients. With this procedure, veins can be dealt with at an early stage, helping to prevent further complications.

How long does it take for results?
You may need anywhere from one to several treatment sessions for any vein region. Fading of the vessels is a slow process, which takes one to six months. The goal is to produce a 75% to 90% improvement.

What's the recovery time?
Generally, normal activities can be resumed after treatments. The procedure, performed in our office, usually causes only minimal discomfort. Bruising and pigmentation may occur after sclerotherapy. Bruising typically disappears within 3-4 weeks. Although pigmentation almost always fades, it can last for several months.
